The Daily Mail is reporting on the problems surrounding production of the film which has found some of the crew quitting and several filming locations refusing to allow the film to be made on their premises because of its content.
Producer, director and star Nick Loeb, who made headlines with his epic battle to save frozen embyros made with his ex-wife Sofia Vergara, told The Hollywood Reporter that their on-set electrician was the most recent member of his crew to quit the job.
Loeb said both Tulane University and Louisiana State University were among sites that rejected the crew.
“They refused to put it in writing, but they told us on the phone it was due to content,” Loeb told the Reporter.
Both institutions have denied his claim.
Producers were renting a synagogue in New Orleans for catering and as a place for extras to gather. “Once they found out what the film was about, they locked us out. We had to call the police so that the extras and caterers could retrieve their possessions,“ Loeb said.
Casting has also been a problem throughout the project with many actors walking away after realizing that the film was pro-life.
“We had to replace three local actors, including one who was to play Norma McCorvey, even after she begged for the role,” says Loeb. Norma McCorvey was the “Roe” in the landmark case.
He went on to say that when they shot in Washington DC, their location manager sent an email that read: "I have been doing research on the movie trying to figure out who is producing and what the gist of the story is, and I finally found it, and so I am withdrawing from this project. I am a staunch pro-abortion feminist activist, and I will not be party to such horrible propaganda.”
Facebook also banned their crowdfunding ads and blocked their site.
With the resignation of Justice Anthony Kennedy shining a new spotlight on the controversial Roe v. Wade decision, Loeb says the timing could not be better to launch such a film.
“But even without that news, it’s one of the most controversial political decisions in history. It divides us and makes us uncomfortable,” Loeb said. "I have my own pro-life issue going on with my fight over embryos, but no one has really told the whole truth about Roe v. Wade in a film. When I delved into this, I discovered conspiracy theories, fake news, made-up statistics and a whole lot of people involved who switched their positions from pro-choice to pro-life, including Norma.”
They are halfway through filming this documentary and are in need of funds in order to get this movie into theaters by the fall. Click here to donate!
