Contrary to what the secular media has been trumpeting all weekend, a Vatican spokesman has clarified that statements made by the Pope in an upcoming book about the use of condoms to avoid transmission of AIDS does not contradict Church teaching, but rather affirms it.

Pope Benedict XVI on the Most Holy Rosary

Speaking just days before today’s feast of the Most Holy Rosary, Pope Benedict XVI advised the faithful to pray the rosary daily and use it to meditate on the mysteries of Christ “in union with Mary, the Virgin at prayer” which “strengthens us all in faith, hope and charity.”
