Tens of thousands of citizens, chanting “kill the bill” and “can you hear us now,” converged on Washington yesterday just as the U.S. House is planning to vote on a health care plan that includes abortion funding and death panels.

Critical Vote Concerning Abortion in Health Care Expected Friday

The nation’s premier pro-life group, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), is reporting that leaders in the U.S. House are attempting to bypass a rule that would force a vote on abortion funding in health care with a new rule that will insert phony pro-life language into the bill. This critical vote is expected to occur tomorrow or Saturday.

Majority of American Women Want Congress to Slow Down on Health Care

A new poll conducted by the Independent Women’s Forum found that nearly two-thirds of America women would rather have private health-care insurance than a government-run plan and believe Congress should not rush to pass a health-care bill at this time.

Maine Voters Reject Same-Sex Marriage

Voters in Maine exercised their right to a People’s Veto and chose to repeal a law passed by the state legislature that would have allowed same-sex couples to marry. Gay marriage has now lost in every single state – 31 in all – where the issue has been put to a popular vote.

Vatican Says Concerns of American Catholics Prompted Visitation

In response to continuing questions about the reasons behind the Vatican’s Visitation of U.S. women’s religious communities, Cardinal Franc Rode, prefect for the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life said it was launched in response to “many years” of listening to concerns from American Catholics about the welfare of religious women.
