House May Use Gimmick to Pass Unpopular Health Care Reform

In the event that they can’t garner enough votes to pass the Senate health care bill in the House, leader are now taking procedural steps to allow a “deem and pass” vote which would allow disaffected members in their house to pass the legislation without actually voting for the bill.

Lesbian Couple Denounces Catholic School’s Decision

The lesbian couple at the center of a controversy involving their two children’s attendance at a Catholic school in Boulder issued a statement saying they don’t believe “homosexuality and organized religion should be mutually exclusive.”

Anglican Church of Canada Requests Union with Catholic Church

The U.S. Bishops are calling on the faithful to oppose the current version of health care reform because its fundamental flaws, such as abortion funding and a lack of conscience protections, “vitiate the good the bill intends to promote.”

Vatican Rebuffs Attempts to Link Pope with Scandal

The Vatican has denounced “aggressive attempts” to link Pope Benedict XVI to sex abuse cases that occurred during his tenure as Archbishop of Munich, saying that all attempts to “personally involve the Holy Father in the question of the abuses” have failed.
