During a recent interview, the head of the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) admitted that the broadcaster would never mock Mohammed the way it mocks Jesus.

The Christian Institute is reporting that BBC head Mark Thompson justified the astonishing admission of religious bias by his news outlet by arguing that an insult to Mohammed has great “emotional force”, similar to that of showing “grotesque child pornography.” Jesus, on the other hand, is fair game because Christianity has “pretty broad shoulders.” Besides, he admitted, Christians don’t threaten to kill people who offend them.

“Without question, ‘I complain in the strongest possible terms’, is different from, ‘I complain in the strongest possible terms and I am loading my AK47 as I write’,” Thompson said. “This definitely raises the stakes.”

He went on to say that the fatwa issued against Salman Rushdie over his novel, The Satanic Verses, and the 2004 murder of film maker Theo van Gogh who had criticized Islam, made broadcasters realized that religious controversies could lead to murder.

The BBC’s blatantly biased position is not news. Last year, a former BBC news anchor named Peter Sissons, whose memoirs were serialized in the Daily Mail, said: “Islam must not be offended at any price, although Christians are fair game because they do nothing about it if they are offended.”

He also said that staff damage their careers if they don’t follow the BBC’s mindset.

A spokesperson for the BBC was unavailable for comment.
