The latest traditional Chinese medical treatment, a “cure-all” pill that contains the powdered remains of aborted fetuses, was intercepted by customs officials in South Korea this week.
The Daily Mail is reporting on the grim trade being run out of China which consists of selling pills filled with powdered human remains. The sought after “medication” is produced by medical companies who gain access to aborted or still-born babies through corrupt medical staff. The corpses are bought and taken to clinics where they are placed in medical drying microwaves. Once the skin is dry, it is pounded into a fine powder, then poured into capsules along with herbs that are meant to disguise the true ingredients from customs officials.
Chinese officials are said to be aware of the trade and have tried to stop the export of the capsules but they are being smuggled out of the country along with other high demand Chinese remedies such as ground rhino horns and microwave dried placenta.
Even more disturbing are reports that some of the babies used in this trade are those who perished in China’s “dying rooms” where babies are left to die because they were born into families who already had a child and were not permitted by the government to keep a second one.
Unfortunately, this sad trade is thriving. The Mail reports that customs officials in South Korea intercepted 35 smuggling attempts of more than 17,000 capsules disguised as “stamina boosters” since last August.
According to the San Francisco Times, a Korean team ran DNA tests on the contents of the capsules last year and said they were 99.7 percent human. The tests also found hair and nail remnants and could even identify the gender of the baby.
There are very real health risks involved in consuming these capsules because they contain super-bacteria and other harmful ingredients. This is a real concern for Asian health authorities who believe that if the powdered fetus trade continues, these pills will eventually find their way onto the internet and into the hands of the gullible or desperately sick people.
