Women of Grace, an apostolate whose mission is to transform the world one woman at a time, is taking to the streets on January 25!
For the first time ever, Women of Grace will be officially represented at the 40th Annual March for Life in Washington DC, marching under the banner of “Women of Grace for Life.”
The idea sprang from a “seed” planted during a Women of Grace Facilitators conference call when the subject of the March for Life arose. Regional Coordinator Peggy Pritchard said that although she prayed we would never need another March for Life, if we had to do so, it would be wonderful if Women of Grace could march together, full of joy, hope and grace.
“I see this as a movement of the heart for women who are being summoned to live out their Women of Grace spirituality at the March,” Peggy said. “John Henry Newman’s episcopal motto was ‘Heart speaks to heart’ and this is what the March is all about. It’s heart speaking to heart, 400,000 strong. It’s so joyful, uplifting, hopeful, energizing!”
This was all Martha Nicolli, a facilitator and regional coordinator from St. Joan of Arc parish Boca Raton, Florida, needed to hear. For years, she had been trying to go to the March but something always prevented it. When the idea was floated to march together as Women of Grace, she leaped at the chance.
“I was bound and determined to go this year and thought it would be a great idea for Women of Grace from all over the country to march together under the banner of ‘Women of Grace for Life’,” Martha said.
She had the banner made and gathered as many women as she could to attend the March, convincing them to make the 15 hour drive from Florida to Washington DC.
“We’re going to put on our spiritual muscles and just march through whatever we have to in order to convert the culture of death into the culture of life,” Martha said.
To accommodate Women of Grace marchers, two groups will form at the March. One group will leave from the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception and the other group will march from the Mall area. Click here for more details.
In addition, Women of Grace marchers are being asked to wear something pink or purple, such as a scarf or hat, to identify themselves and help find their way together in what is expected to be a massive crowd this year. Attendees are also asked to make signs and posters identifying themselves as Women of Grace. These signs should include the Womenofgrace.com website so that women who want more information know where to find it.
“Women of Grace walks in solidarity with the unborn and all of those who have known the devastation of abortion,” said Women of Grace Founder and President, Johnnette Benkovic.
“May our witness, in union with the witness of the thousands of other men and women participating in the March for Life, be a visible reminder of the dignity of the human person from the moment of conception until natural death.”
