In a shocking example of what can happen when abortion-causing drugs fall into the wrong hands, a 28 year-old Tampa man is facing first-degree murder charges after tricking his pregnant girl friend into taking the abortion-inducing drug Cytotec, causing her to lose their child.
WPTV.com is reporting that John Andrew Weldon has been charged with swapping his girlfriend’s antibiotics with Cytotec because she refused to abort their child.
“I was never going to do anything but go full term with it, and he didn’t want me to,” explained Remee Lee, 26, Welden’s now ex-girlfriend.
Welden, who is the son of obstetrician Stephen Welden, M.D., took Lee to see his father when she suspected she was pregnant. A sonogram and blood test confirmed that she was about six weeks pregnant.
The next day, Welden called to tell her that the blood test showed she had a bacterial infection as well and would need to take an antibiotic.
He showed up with the prescription on Good Friday, and she began taking the pills.
By Easter Sunday, Lee was in a local emergency room with severe cramping and excessive bleeding. Doctors discovered that her unborn baby no longer had a heartbeat. When she showed them the bottle of antibiotics, they were able to confirm that the drugs were actually abortion pills.
According to the FBI, Weldon admitted to the crime, saying that he switched the pills and even scratched off any identifying features so Lee would not suspect anything.
She is currently suing him for $15,000 in punitive damages, citing battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
At present, 64 percent of women who undergo an abortion in America say they felt pressured to do so by either a parent or a partner, with this coercion frequently escalating to violence against either the child, the mother, or both. Click here to read more about this shocking trend.
