The nation’s largest abortion provider, an organization that has a vested interest in the success of the president’s vastly unpopular health care plan, has offered the services of its 750 clinics to help sell ObamaCare to the public.
Politico is reporting that Planned Parenthood has pledged to help the administration to reach out to women by helping them find out about their new coverage options under the Affordable Care Act. They claim nearly half of the nine million patients they see every year are uninsured, with most being under the age of 40. This makes them a prime candidate to reach the masses with a variety of selling tools from refrigerator magnets to online apps to help the government sell its program.
Their webpage on ObamaCare highlights the state exchanges being set up that will supposedly allow Americans to buy health plans with the help of government subsidies. They make sure to highlight in bold print the fact that these plans will cover birth control with no co-pay.
As Politico aptly points out, there are plenty of risks involved in partnering with an organization that stands to reap enormous financial benefits from the new healthcare program.
“Planned Parenthood is among the long list of liberal organizations that are expected to receive taxpayer-funded navigator grants. The navigator grants would further enable Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in America, to continue its misuse of taxpayer dollars to [supplement] their big abortion business,” said Rep. Diane Black (R-TN).
Former Colorado Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, now employed by the pro-life organization known as the Susan B. Anthony List, was also outraged by the liaison.
“Of course, Planned Parenthood wants to see this law implemented,” she said. “It will just put more money in their coffers.”
State lawmakers may have something to say about this arrangement, however. At least this is the case in Arkansas where lawmakers have succeeded in blocking an application by Planned Parenthood to the Arkansas Insurance Department to hire seven people to serve as “navigators” to help people figure out what coverage to buy.
David Ramsey of the Arkansas Times blog reports that Insurance Commissioner Jay Bradford said Planned Parenthood will “submit some more specific wording on what their mission would be” in order to assure that these navigation activities will not be connected to their abortion business in any way. He noted that the guides to be hired would be temporary workers who are not presently employed at Planned Parenthood.
At the present time, it is uncertain as to whether or not the Commission will sign a contract with Planned Parenthood for these services.
We can only hope that lawmakers in other states will take similar action to prevent this unholy alliance from being formed in their jurisdictions.
