A national tweetfest is being organized for Wednesday, October 30 from 9:00 a.m. to noon (EST) to demand an end to hiding abortion funding in Obamacare.
LifeNews is reporting that the tweetfest is aimed at demanding transparency on the issue of abortion coverage on Obamacare exchanges so that supporters of life have the information they need to make the right choice about what coverage to buy.
“Being forced to pay for abortion because of the secrecy of coverage is anti-choice, and, really, it’s also un-American,” writes Susan Tyrrell for LifeNews.
Since the problematic launch of Obamacare on October 1, it has been revealed that many health insurance plans throughout the nation will include abortion on demand—even late term abortions.
Pro-life Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) says the Affordable Care Act requires premium payers to be assessed an abortion surcharge every month to pay for abortions.
“But many pro-life Americans may unwittingly purchase pro-abortion plans because of a marketing secrecy clause embedded in Obamacare which stipulates that the surcharge be minimally disclosed only at the time of enrollment. In other words, bury it in the fine print,” Smith said.
For this reason, Smith, along with 70 other House members have introduced the Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act (HR 3279) which will ensure prominent and transparent disclosure of abortion coverage for each plan offered on an exchange.
“This is a Right to Know bill,” Smith said. “Americans have a right to know upfront and with full transparency when they are purchasing a plan that subsidizes the killing of unborn children. Even the most ardent advocate of abortion should embrace full disclosure.”
However, word needs to get out to many people who probably don’t know that policies on the exchanges could fund abortion. The tweetfest, sponsored by the Life Blast Prolife Social Media Project, is designed to do just that.
“In 2013, one of the surest ways to draw attention to an important issue is by tweeting,” Tyrrell writes. “Those sometimes silly #hashtags are a powerful media tool, often reaching millions of people, like an interwebs rainstorm.”
Tweets should focus on Health and Human Services Secretary (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius as well as Rep. Smith’s bill.
The hashtag for the event is #BeTransparent and the goal is to get this to trend so that the media and public notice what’s happening. Organizers want #BeTransparent to be in the top 10 hashtag trends, but help will be needed in order accomplish this.
The following are a few sample tweets that can be used.

Organizers are asking everyone to pass the word to friends, via e-mail lists, anyway that might help to ensure widespread involvement!
