Commentary by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS
Even though it may be tough to forgo those yummy Do-si-dos and Samoas when the neighborhood girl scouts come to your door, the time has finally come for Americans to take a stand against the corrupting of this iconic organization and protect the souls of these innocent children!
In a recent blog, Rey Flores, director of outreach for the American Life League, says he understands how uncomfortable it might be to resist buying the cookies, but enough is enough and something has to be done to protect the very girls who are selling the cookies from a far greater threat than the loss of sales. Their very souls are on the line!
As Flores explains, Girl Scouts USA (GSUSA) is a member of the Coalition for Adolescent Girls, whose international and national agenda specifically supports abortion-related care for adolescent girls. GSUSA is also a core member of the National Council for Research on Women, which supports abortion rights and comprehensive sex ed. GSUSA maintains membership in the National Collaboration for Youth, an organization that promotes comprehensive sexuality education, opposes abstinence-only education, and seeks to ensure access to contraception for all, regardless of age.
He recently had a Facebook conversation with a man who wanted to know how to tell his coworkers that he could no longer buy the cookies without bring up the subject of abortion at work.
“Be truthful,” Flores suggested. “Simply say: ‘I’m sorry I won’t be able to buy any cookies anymore, mainly because it concerns me that the Girl Scouts support social agendas against my personal and religious beliefs.’ That’s it, and walk away. IF they want to know more, simply tell them the truth, because God is going to ask us one day how we handled certain opportunities to bring the truth to people. I realize it’s work and you want to avoid any problems, but how will we ever avoid the biggest eternal problem of all (hell), if we don’t fight to bring more souls to Christ?”
Of course, we must use prudence and good judgment in how we handle this situation, and always let charity be our guide, but the time has come to start thinking about the little girls who are innocently selling these cookies for an organization that supports the ultimate violence against children.
As Flores concludes: “I’d like to remind everyone that Jesus Christ will one day ask us about all the missed opportunities we had to bring the truth to someone. It may seem like just cookies here, but no matter how uncomfortable a situation may be, it won’t be as ‘uncomfortable’ as an eternity in hell.”

No one can tell the story of the corruption inside the Girl Scouts better than the scouts themselves. Our series featuring former scouts Christy and Sydney Volanski is a real eye-opener! Click here for more information.
