Sex Ed Just Keeps Getting Worse

teensTwo of the latest examples of just how low the nation’s sex ed establishment is willing to stoop occurred within the last week with one school making 14 year-old girls confess publicly to how far they are willing to go sexually, while another program showed images to middle schoolers that were so raunchy we can’t even describe them in this post!

ABC10News.com is reporting that parents of children at Woodland Park Middle School in San Marcos, California are furious after their daughters were subjected to a humiliating “kiss and tell” session in class.

The exercise, which was part of a dating lesson in a family life and health class, involved making the girls reveal how far they are willing to go sexually by forcing them to stand under signs marked “smiled at”, “hugged”, “kissed”, “above the waist”, “below the waist”, and “all the way.”

One parent, who refuses to reveal his name for fear his daughter will be embarrassed yet again, was beyond upset.

“To put them up in front of their friends to be humiliated or to be asked questions that I believe are personal, it’s really none of the school’s business,” the parent said.

Believe it or not, the school actually defended itself and insisted that the odious activity, which was prepared by a local “community clinic”, was meant to spark discussion about what is appropriate for dating at the middle school level. Besides, the principal told ABC, “Parents sign permission slips for the class and can look at the curriculum prior. The purpose of the lesson was to open the lines of communication between parents and students about dating expectations.”

The embarrassing incident didn’t come close to accomplishing that, parents say, but rather left their daughters feeling peer-pressured and mortified.

“For the children to get that confused is just another reason why it shouldn’t even be in the schools,” a parent said.

teen coupleWhy not leave dating issues up to parents, some suggested, or, if they have to have this information, conduct some kind of private polling process.

If that’s not shocking enough, consider what kind of sex ed was presented to Pine Valley Middle School students in Pine Valley, California. According to ABC, eighth graders were shown a slideshow program during a sex ed class entitled “Top Conception Myths” which contained information about commonly held misconceptions about when and how girls can get pregnant. However, the material was accompanied by photos that one parent described as “X-rated” and “over the top.”

For instance, one shows a woman on top of a man with a caption reading, “girl on top can still get pregnant.”

But the image that most incensed parents, and which we won’t even describe here, had to do with men being willing to make love to women during menstruation.

“This is horrific,” said one parent who did not want to be identified. “This is unacceptable material.”

When her son showed her the presentation before hand, most of the slides were okay, but then she saw a few of these very graphic photos and was incensed that something like this would be shown to such young children.

Once again, the school defended itself, saying that the presentation was organized by Mountain Empire Family Medicine and was approved through the Pupil Services Department.

Mountain Health CEO Judi Shaplin told ABC that while she understands the parents’ concerns, “Mountain Health recognizes the sensitivity of such material and worked actively with the school district to assure that all information was pre-screened and approved prior to presentation.”

She has promised to “review” the contents of the presentation “with a special attention to the specific images that have concerned some parents.”

But for some students, the damage has already been done.

As one parent told ABC, “That’s something you can’t unsee.”

The moral of this story is that sex ed in America is out of control and parents need to stop passing off this responsibility to schools. They need to be more proactive about the content of the programs rather than just be the people who “sign off” on curriculums that are too often prepared for schools by “community centers” such as Planned Parenthood who have a vested interest in making sure teens need their birth control and abortion services.

It should be clear to everyone, after reading these two outrageous examples of what’s going on in our nation’s sex ed classes, that something needs to be done to stop the deliberate pornification of our youth!
