Women of Grace has been praying for the healing of Fr. Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R., the co-founder of the Community of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and former host to EWTN’s Sunday Night Prime, died on Oct. 3, the vigil of his patron, St. Francis of Assisi, at age 81.
Fr. Groeshel’s life was truly a gift to all of us. Please join Women of Grace and all of the members of the EWTN family in praying for the repose of his soul.
V. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord.
R. And let the perpetual light shine upon them.
And may the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Here is the official announcement from EWTN:
“All of us at EWTN were saddened to learn of the passing of Father Benedict Groeschel, C.F.R. Father Benedict played an enormous role in the work of EWTN, hosting numerous programs and being a frequent guest on the Network for nearly three decades. Like Mother Angelica herself, Father Benedict was an iconic presence on EWTN. His grey beard and Franciscan habit were known to Network viewers around the world and he had a profound impact on the lives of countless individuals who knew him only through his television and radio presence. In many of the most difficult days in the history of EWTN, Father Benedict was a strong and vocal supporter of Mother Angelica. The Network is what it is today, in part, because of the encouragement and commitment of Father Benedict. While we will miss him, we are also confident that he has achieved his final goal of life everlasting with the Father. May this good and faithful servant rest in peace.”
Please keep Father Benedict and all who mourn his passing in your prayers.
