Study Says Contraception Should be Used to Control Global Warming

In yet another example of global warming hysteria, UK journalist Richard Pindar reports on research by the London School of Economics (LSE) which finds that contraception is five times cheaper than green technologies for preventing climate change. Pindar recommends that people either stop breeding or governments should put contraceptives in public water supplies.

The report, entitled Fewer Emitter, Lower Emissions, Less Cost, concludes that family planning should be seen as one of the primary methods of emissions reduction, especially because 40 percent of all pregnancies worldwide are unintended.

“It’s always been obvious that total emissions depend on the number of emitters as well as their individual emissions,” said Roger Martin, chairman of the Optimum Population Trust at the LSE, to London’s Telegraph.co.uk. “The carbon tonnage can’t shoot down as we want while the population keeps shooting up.”

The report says that if basic family planning needs were met, it would reduce the unintended pregnancy rate by 72 percent and save 34 billion tons of CO2, which is equivalent to nearly six times the annual emission rate of the U.S. and almost 60 times the rate of the UK’s annual amount.

Pindar says that if the population is not willing to reduce itself, “then governments will need to dose the water supply.”

In his landmark encyclical, Humanae Vitae, Pope Paul VI warned about this exact scenario of contraception falling into the hands of despotic governments who will force it upon their people.

“Careful consideration should be given to the danger of this power passing into the hands of those public authorities who care little for the precepts of the moral law,” the Pope wrote. “Should they regard this as necessary, they may even impose their use on everyone.”

China’s draconian one-child policy, which mandates that all women use an intrauterine device or face forced sterilization and abortion, is the most glaring example of the fulfillment of this prophecy.

However, according to the World Fertility Report, almost all of the world’s governments have now pledged to reduce the fertility of their citizens and support family planning programs that distribute contraception.
