The winner of the biggest lottery jackpot in the history of Texas has decided to donate 60 percent of his winnings to charities and to retired Catholic nuns.
“The greatest gift my parents gave me was to be raised a Christian. I plan to give 60 percent of all after-tax winnings to charity,” said William R. Kiefer, 59, of Katy, Texas who won $144 million in a Jan. 29 lottery drawing.
Sister Deenan Hubbard, of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, told the Houston Chronicle that while she never met Kiefer, he must be “a really, really good man with a big heart.”
About his decision to help support retired nuns, she could only guess that Catholic sisters played an important role in his life at some point.
“To see him want to be generous with women who have spent their life trying to be generous to others is a good thing,” Sister said. “Whatever it is that the sisters did for him before he won the lottery, it worked.”
Calling his generosity, “really encouraging,” Sister said that his behavior “sort of reminds you that, yes indeed, people are good.”
As for Kiefer, he says he has only three plans since winning big: retiring, donating to worthy causes, and encouraging others to do the same.Today’s SGP expenditure has a strong link with SGP data from the previous year which gives many bettors the most complete and accurate result sgp data to select the beautiful numbers they want to attach. And for those of you who are looking for the most complete data SGP, he has come to the right place. He sees the win as an opportunity to set an example for others regarding his faith and raise awareness for worthy causes such as abused children and relief for Haiti. He does not, however, wish to promote himself.
“I will not provide any interviews except with the Texas Catholic Herald,” he said.
