Donald Gould before and after his amazing transformation

Earlier this month, the American public was wowed by the story of an incredibly talented homeless man who was caught on video playing the piano on a Florida street that led not only to a second chance on life for himself, but also for his long-lost son.

Aleteia is reporting on the story of Donald Gould who was spotted playing the piano outside a restaurant in Sarasota, Florida. Two young people and their mothers filmed the son he played and used it to set up a Donald Gould Facebook page and GoFundMe campaign to help the downtrodden man get back on his feet.

Not long after, Inside Edition got hold of the story and paid for a make-over for Donald which was shared online. In the video, Donald shares his gratitude for his new clean looks, but said his biggest concern was reconnecting with this 18 year-old son, Donny. His biggest hope, he said, was that all the media attention would inspire his son to get in touch with him.

It did! The Michigan couple named Terri and Darryl, who adopted Donny’s son at the age of five, saw the video and decided to show it to their son.

“ . . . After we watched the video we called Donny into the room and sat him between us and had him watch the video for the first time,” the couple said.

They explained to him that the homeless man in the video was his birth father.

Young Donny had no memories of his father whom he hadn’t seen since the age of three. But after watching the video, he wanted to meet him.

Donny told Inside Edition that he thought getting in touch with his father might “help the piano man as he gets his life back on track.”

The two have met via video chat with the hopes of a face-to-face meeting coming soon.

In the meantime, Donny Sr. is planning to enter rehab with the hopes that this happy ending will soon turn into a new life of healing and hope for both!
