Parents of public school students in the state of Tennessee are becoming increasing concerned about the indoctrination of their children into Islam and have put up enough of a fuss to get the state to review its social studies standards.
According to Phyllis Schlafly’s Education Reporter, parents in the state of Tennessee are growing increasingly concerned about the way world religions are being taught in their children’s classes.
For example, Spring Hill Middle School in Tennessee recently required seventh grade students to write “Allah is the only God.” According to one parent, the class studied Islam for three weeks but skipped the chapter on Christianity “because it’s not in the state standards.”
Another case involved students at Wilson County schools in Tennessee who were scheduled to take a test on Islamic curriculum on September 11, 2015. Even though a district spokesperson insisted that the timing of the test was not deliberate, parents had to demand that the test date be changed.
There are even reports that some Tennessee teachers are using handouts supplied by CAIR, the Council on Islamic-American Relations, an organization that many consider radical.
When confronted by angry parents, local schools told parents that the controversial curriculum being taught to students is required by Tennessee state law; however state education leaders deny that claim and say the responsibility for curriculum choice belongs to local school districts.
Even more frustrating for Tennessee parents, some are being stonewalled by schools that are refusing to allow them to review curriculum materials. This refusal is in spite of the fact that the Tennessee legislature amended a state law in 2014 that entitles parents and legal guardians “to review all teaching materials, instructional materials, and other teaching aids used in the classroom.”
Tennessee state senators from both Wilson and Robertson County told the Reporter that they received reports that parents “are being refused access to material used in 7th-grade social studies regarding the teaching of Islam.”
In fact, Jay Sekulow, Chief Council for the American Center for Law and Justice, said Tennessee school districts even went so far as to deny his Freedom of Information Request, claiming that the request for tests, quizzes, assignments and lesson plans about world religions for social studies classes would be too expensive to compile.
But the law is on the side of the parents and districts must supply that information to parents who request it.
As shocking as these developments may sound, they’re not limited to just a few bad actors in the Tennessee education system. It’s happening in other statesas well.
For instance, students in a Walton County, Georgia middle school were recently taught that “Allah is the same God worshipped by Jews and Christians.” They were taught about Islam, but never once learned anything about Christianity.
Just last week, seventh graders in a school in Huntington Beach, California were made to sing a song promoting Islam which was composed by a teacher who moonlights as an aspiring songwriter.
“Like a sandstorm/on the desert/sending camels/into motion,” the lyrics read. “Like how a single faith/can make a heart open/They might only have one God/But they can make an explosion,” the lyrics read.
A parent of one of the students in the same school also sounded the alarm when her son came home with a stick-figure drawing in his notebook that read: “Believe in Allah! There is no other god.”
Freshmen at Utah’s Salem Junior High School were instructed to create a propaganda poster for terrorist organizations like the Islamic State. They were instructed to list “eight reasons why young Muslims join ISIS” and the back page required students to draw a “terrorism propaganda poster.”
When outraged parents contacted the school, administrators claimed that the teacher was trying to show the children why propaganda was wrong. Parents didn’t buy it and the school was forced to apologize and pull the assignment.
In addition to foisting immorality on children through graphic sex ed, pro-homosexual anti-bullying campaigns and allowing transgendered children to use whatever locker room they “identify” with, the nation’s public schools appear to have gone back to teaching religion again – and this time it’s Islam.
Parents with children in public schools need to be extra-vigilant these days because that “free” education is coming at quite a cost to our children and our society!
