Advent is a time of anticipation and preparation.  How do you see both of these attitudes of heart implicit in the statement, “Mary is the attentive Virgin”?  What virtue underscores Mary’s reception of the word of God–from the moment of the angelic message to her impregnation?

 Introduction

My own journey back to the Catholic faith began through the testimony of a friend. Her example of Christian fortitude and perseverance in the midst of a great trial convinced me that grace was real and God had a plan for each of us.  She not only spoke to me about Jesus, she “witnessed” Him to me.  Indeed,  because of her, my life was changed forever.
