A New York City man is suing the Metropolitan Museum of Art for displaying four “offensive” masterpieces which depict Jesus as white and blond, claiming the depiction is racist.
Breitbart is reporting on the suit filed by Justin Renel Joseph, 33, in Manhattan Supreme Court claiming that four paintings of Jesus caused him “personal stress.”
The paintings are by several Italian masters – “The Holy Family with Angels” by Sebastiano Ricci; “The Resurrection” by Perugino; “The Miracle of the Loaves and Fishes” by Tintoretto; and “The Crucifixion” by Francesco Granacci.
Joseph claims these painters were guilty of “offensive aesthetic whitewashing” of Jesus, who should be portrayed as a man with “black hair like wool and skin of bronze color.”
According to the complaint: “The implication that someone who possesses physical features like the plaintiff could not be the important historical and public figure of Jesus Christ . . . caused the plaintiff to feel, among other things, rejected and unaccepted by society. ”
Joseph said the paintings caused him “personal stress” and said displaying the artwork at the Met represented “an extreme case of discrimination.”
“They completely changed his race to make him more aesthetically pleasing for white people,” Joseph told the New York Post. “I’m suing a public venue which by the Civil Rights Act of 1964 can’t discriminate on a protected basis.”
The Met sees things differently and believes the paintings are important both historically and artistically. After checking the painting, many people also thought to buy it, who loves to put painting on their home walls. Hence with the technology, their wish can be completed with the help of Order a custom painting. They provide you exactly same painting as you required to add a grace on your wall.
“When they were painted, it was typical for artists to depict subjects with the same identity as the local audience,” museum spokeswoman Elyse Topalian told the Post. “This phenomenon occurs in many other cultures, as well.”
This is just the latest episode in the new national silliness known as “white privilege” where white people are blamed and shamed for every disadvantage experienced by minorities who are too often manipulated into feeling like “victims” by politicians who then seek to exploit them.
It’s just another form of political correctness that needs to go the way of all the others – into the trash heap of history.
