In spite of all the outlandish lawsuits and politically correct gag-orders, pollsters say Americans not only love Christmas, but overwhelming majorities think it belongs in public schools where there ought to be more religion!
One of America’s most respected pollsters, Rassmussen Reports, found that 76 percent of American adults believe Christmas should be celebrated in public schools.
That number leaps to 82 percent for adults with school-age children, with 61 percent saying there should be more religion in those schools.
This makes sense when we consider other recent Rasmussen polls which found that 71 percent of American say their religious faith is important in their daily life with 49 percent of them saying it’s Very Important. Perhaps this is why 71 percent of American adults say Christmas should be more about Jesus Christ than Santa Claus!
We would never know this when listening to the nightly news and its constant litany of schools and government buildings that are banning all evidence of Christmas – as if we all agree. Happy Holidays is now the official PC version of Merry Christmas and God forbid we erect a manger scene on public property (which is perfectly legal as long as it is privately funded).
And the rush to introduce “diversity” into our schools by recognizing other religious holidays (and sometimes teaching their tenets under the guise of “social studies”) is also receiving a lukewarm response from Americans. In March of this year, 96 percent of Americans felt Christmas should be observed in schools with 75 percent saying the same of Easter; however there was significantly less support for observing major Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist holidays in schools.
In other words, the majority of Americans who want more religion in schools are talking about more Christianity – not other religions!
The bottom line is that polls such as these prove that America is still a strong Christian nation. We are a people who embrace the very same Judeo-Christian values that are being driven out of our culture by ideologues who inhabit our federal governmen, too many of our statehouses and the many special interest groups who lobby them for favors in exchange for the right to cram their non-belief systems down our throats.
Polls such as these shouldn’t make us feel hopeless and helpless, but should empower us to realize that it’s okay to speak out and “throw our weight around”. After all, we’re in the majority. So speak up!
