On the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
“By the grace of this sacrament the sick person receives the strength and the gift of uniting himself more closely to Christ’s passion: in a certain way he is consecrated to bear fruit by configuration to the Savior’s redemptive Passion.”
~Catechism of the Catholic Church #1521
For Reflection:
Every contradiction, trial, or reversal in life gives me opportunity to unite myself to the passion of Jesus Christ. How do these unavoidable sufferings of every day life prepare me and strengthen me for the moment when my ultimate union with Christ is imminent?

SECOND WEEK OF LENT-SATURDAY
18. EACH OF US IS THE PRODIGAL SON
18.1 Sin, man’s greatest tragedy. Consequences of sin in the soul. Without God happiness is impossible.
The Lord is loving and merciful, slow to anger, and full of love; the Lord is kind to all, and compassionate to all his creatures, we recite in the Mass….We are all children of God, and being children, then heirs….When man sins gravely, he is lost to God and also in himself, for sin makes him lose his way to heaven. It is the greatest tragedy that can happen to a Christian. By loss of sanctifying grace he has moved away from the principle of life, which is God himself.
