Confirmation:  The Sacrament of Spiritual Maturation
The Catechism puts it this way:…those who are anointed, share more completely in the mission of Jesus Christ and the fullness of the Holy Spirit with which he is filled, so that their lives may give off “the aroma of Christ.”(CCC1294)…The anointing signifies the infilling of the Holy Spirit and the diffusion of grace…the candidate has received the “mark” or “seal” of the Holy Spirit..The gifts of the Holy Spirit proper to Confirmation are wisdom, understanding, counsel, knowledge, fortitude, piety, and fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2-3).
