Holy Orders:  The Sacrament of Priesthood
The essential rite of the Sacrament of Holy Orders consists in the imposition of the hands by the bishop on the head of the ordinand. The bishop prays to God and asks for the outpouring of the Holy spirit and the gifts proper to the ministry to which the candidate is being ordained. Because the priest operated in persona Christi Capitis, his unworthiness or personal situation does not prevent Christ from acting.
