SUFFERING’S GRAND ENTRANCE
In Chapters 1 and 2 of Genesis, we discover that man, in the person of Adam, existed in a state of interior and exterior harmony…This harmony of life, however, was interrupted and forever altered in Chapter 3 of Genesis. Here, as you remember, evil entered the world through seduction, deception, temptation, and disobedience. God told the serpent he would be cursed among all creatures, that he would crawl on his belly for all time, and that, in the end, he would know defeat. (3:14-15).  Thus, the ultimate consequence for his sin struck at the very heart of his pride.
