The Feast of the Assumption is the date chosen for another black mass at the Oklahoma City Civic Center Music Hall, sparking national outrage and prompting demands that the event be cancelled.
The Christian Post is reporting on the event which is being hosted by Dakhma of Angra Mainyu, the same group that conducted a black mass at the Civic Center in 2014. Headed by Adam Daniels, a registered sex offender, the event will include two rituals.
“The first ritual will [be] the black mass as done in 2014, and the second ritual will be the consumption of Mary by Jai Kali Maa,” the event description reads. “The second ritual will educate the public on the practice of ahrimanism.”
The black mass is a blasphemous mockery of the Catholic Mass. The second event focuses on a Hindu goddess name Kali Maa whose role is to defend the gods (devas) from demons (asuras).
“The term Asura is the original religious term for angel,” the group’s press release describes. “The religious ceremony will show direct worship of Kali Maa and allow for the display of Kali Maa to consume the Asura known as St. Mary the Virgin. The rite is known as The Consumption of Mary, and will show many aspects of Tantric worship of Kali Maa and Kundalini practices. This ceremony will show spiritual religious actions versus mockery and blasphemy.”
The event has galvanized Christians all over the country who are joining with Tradition, Family & Property (TFP) Student Action in promoting a petition campaign to have the event cancelled.
“This is a double attack — God and His Mother will be publically vilified on city property,” said TFP Student Action director, John Ritchie. “Every Black Mass is a direct, deliberate and sinful act of hatred against God. Often, a Consecrated Host is stolen from a Catholic Church and then used to desecrate, mock and insult the Catholic Mass. The Person of Our Lord Jesus Christ is attacked in a most vile and unspeakable manner.”
He continued: “To defile and smear the true Mass, the Blessed Sacrament, and the Mother of God is not even remotely a form of religious expression, but rather a direct act of anti-religious bigotry and hatred against God. And when government buildings open their doors and allow a satanic Black Mass that offends God so deeply, it begs the question: Where is our beloved nation headed? Are we still one nation under God?” Ritchie asked.
A similar campaign failed to move Civic Center authorities in 2014 who refused to cancel the black mass because they were afraid of lawsuits.
“If we had cancelled the event, we would likely have been sued by the ACLU, whom we know was watching the case very closely,” stated a spokesperson for Oklahoma Parks and Recreation at the time. “In the past, when the city has attempted to interfere with an individual’s free exercise of speech on our property, we have been taken to federal court. We have lost each of those cases at our taxpayers’ expense.”
Because so many people feared going into the Civic Center after the event took place, Archbishop Paul S. Coakley of Oklahoma City and a priest performed “prayers of exorcism” to rid the building of any evil spirits that might have lingered afterward.
However, public outrage did manage to convince Harvard University to abandon plans to host a black mass in 2014, forcing the event to be held off-campus.
As of this morning, the TFP Student Action petition had gathered 105,177 signatories with a goal of 200,000.
The group’s petition reads: “With my whole heart and soul, I express full, complete and vehement rejection of the satanic black mass scheduled at the Oklahoma City Civic Center on Aug. 15. . . I urge you to cancel this event which offends more than 1 billion Catholics worldwide, 200,000 Catholics in Oklahoma and countless more God-loving Americans. Sacrilege is simply NOT free speech.”
The petition will be presented to Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett and the Oklahoma City Civic Center.
“To dismiss the satanic Black Mass at the Civic Center of Oklahoma City as a mere publicity stunt is to ignore the grave nature of this sin and its consequences,” Ritchie continued. “There is no publicity stunt with Satan.”
