Introduction
I found what I wanted, but it was nothing like what I was looking for. At the time, God was the last thing on my mind. I saw Him as a severe old man with a long white beard who sat on a throne in the sky and kept tabs on all our sins. He was more like a gargoyle than a God, and the Church He created was full of misogynists who hated women and did everything in their power to keep us barefoot and pregnant.
