Indeed, if authority is the wielding of power, this presuppposes that the group has no meaning or purpose outside of the leader’s will. This is the Nietzcheian world where no ontological truth or harmony exists. But this is not the world of God the Father. God did not create a world where authority is arbitrary and a matter of mere quantifiable strength. The word “authority” comes from the Latin “auctor” which means the author, originator, source, maker of, or creator of something.
