Manager Defends Christmas Music at His Eatery

christmas noteThe manager of a Florida restaurant was shocked when a diner left a note on the back of a receipt complaining about how the restaurant was playing too many “religious-themed” Christmas songs and wisely decided to ignore it – after posting the note on Facebook for all to see.

FoxNews.com is reporting on the incident which took place earlier this month at Michael’s Tasting Room in St. Augustine, Florida. Michael Lugo, executive chef and manager of the restaurant says the establishment has been playing holiday music since Thanksgiving to promote a festive spirit among diners.

However, one diner found the music offensive and left a note on the back of a receipt which read, “Christmas music was offensive. Consider playing holiday music or less religious themed.”

“My server in concern had to show me that and it was really like what is going on in this world? So we posted it” on Facebook, Lugo told First Coast News.

He accompanied the post with a comment: “Really . . . what’s wrong with people.”

It didn’t take long for the post to acquire over 800 comments and dozens of shares, with the majority rallying to the restaurant manager’s defense.

One commenter named David Weaver posted: “Political Correctness is Offensive to me. Please Stop.”

Jennifer Wahl wrote: “Isn’t the US supposed to be a free country? Play it, hate it, whatever. Who are these people? Merry Christmas to all!!!”

Cricket Dills summed it up very well: “Someone is always complaining about something. But as long as we choose to let our light shine on for Jesus that’s what matters. Jesus is the reason for the Christmas season.”

Lugo feels the same way and has decided to keep playing the Christmas songs at his establishment.

“It’s all about celebration of family celebration of gathering with friends and people and it’s a tradition. It’s not about a religion it’s not about anything else. I am a Christian but I don’t push that as my agenda I think that Christmas is Christmas.”
