Rasmea Yousef Odeah, an organizer of the “Day Without a Woman” and a convicted Palestinian terrorist, has agreed to be deported from America in order to avoid jail time for lying to authorities about her links to terrorism.

The Washington Times is reporting on Odeah’s decision to leave the United States after living here for 20 years. Currently a resident of Chicago, she will plead guilty to unlawful procurement of naturalization after lying to U.S. authorities about her past involvement in terrorism. In order to avoid a possible 18-month prison sentence, she has agreed to leave the United States.

Odeah, 69, was scheduled to undergo another trial in the US after an appeals court vacated her 2014 conviction, saying that an expert witness should have been allowed to testify that she was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after allegedly being tortured in prison when she gave false answers to authorities.

However, according to Legal Insurrection, a superseding indictment was filed against her  last year in which she was charged with failing to disclose to authorities that she was a member of the Marxist-Leninist group the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), which is part of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). This meant that a new trial would not only concern her failure to disclose her links to terrorism but would ultimately reveal the true extent of her terrorist activities.

For example, according to the Daily Mail, Odeah was involved in planting two bombs in an Israeli supermarket and a third at the British Consulate in Israel in February of 1969. The supermarket bomb exploded, killing two young men who had stopped in to pick up groceries for a trip. Nine others were injured in the explosion. The third bomb planted at the Consulate failed to detonate. She planted another bomb at the Consulate a few days later which was found by police and detonated in a safe location.

She was eventually caught and convicted of these crimes the following year even though her lawyers claimed Israeli military tortured a confession of out of her. After serving 10 years, she was freed in an exchange for Israeli prisoners. In 1995, she entered the U.S. from Jordan and eventually went on to become an American citizen.

In spite of these nefarious details, Odeah’s supporters are claiming her deportation is a victory because she couldn’t possibly get a fair trial while in the United States.

“The prosecution team is now under the regime of racist Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and a new superseding indictment re-frames this as a case about “terrorism” rather than immigration,’ said the Justice for Rasmea group along with the US Palestinian Community Networks said in a statement issued on Thursday.

“There is the great likelihood that a jury would be prejudiced by hearing the zionist Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Tukel call Rasmea a ‘terrorist’ and her supporters ‘mobs and hordes,’ as he has done many times before,” the post continued.

Odeah was involved in organizing the worldwide strike known as a “Day Without a Woman” as well as numerous women’s marches that have taken place across the U.S. in recent months.

Cornell Law School professor William Jacobson, an Odeah critic, told the Washington Times that her decision to be deported was “no surprise.”

“She was convicted of immigration fraud in the first trial, and would have been convicted in the re-trial,” Mr. Jacobson said in an email. “Her new defense that PTSD caused her to falsely answer simple questions on her naturalization papers about past convictions and imprisonment was laughable. Rasmea and her supporters invented an alternate universe based on hatred of Israel, but alternate universes tend not to do very well in court when faced with real world evidence.”

He added: “Rasmea supporters are portraying this as a victory, but that is just spin. This is a devastating defeat not only for Rasmea, but for the anti-Israel activists backing her. By taking a plea, she sold out her supporters, just like she sold out dozens of her fellow terrorists when she confessed to the deadly supermarket bombing in 1969.”

She is scheduled to appear in court on April 25 in Detroit at which time a judge will rule on her plea deal.
