A Grammy-nominated rapper named Joyner Lucas used deceit to secure the use of a Catholic church in Massachusetts to film a vile video in which he is seen holding a whiskey bottle in one hand and a Bible in the other while lamenting the deaths of other rappers who God took instead of President Trump and two Fox News’ hosts.
MassLive.com is reporting on the episode which occurred at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Worcester where Lucas obtained permission from Monsignor Frank Scollen to shoot the video in his church. Unbeknown to the pastor was the title of the video, “Devil’s Work,” and the vile bigotry that it contained.
“Maybe if we had known more about what was happening here, we would have probably put more controls on it,” Monsignor Frank Scollen told a local station. “We need to bring about social change but we need to do it in a non-violent way.”
Non-violence was definitely not the message in Lucas’ video.
“He then goes into an extended lament over the murder Nipsey Hussel, BIGGIE, Tupac Shakur, Selena, and other performers,” explains Catholic League president Bill Donohue.
“He should have stopped there. Instead, he starts cheering for the death of innocent persons. Lucas’ dislike of President Trump, Fox News host Laura Ingraham, and Fox contributor Tomi Lahren leads him to call for their speedy death.”
He even goes so far as to show pictures of the three on funeral easels as if to simulate their deaths.
In addition, the lyrics in his song were filled with bigotry. For example, he uses a racial slur to refer to certain black people and refers to Ms. Ingraham and Lahren as “hoes” who need to be taught a lesson. By calling for the death of innocent people, he was demonstrating his affinity for terrorism; and the mere fact that he was filming such an offensive diatribe in a Catholic church reveals his animosity toward Catholicism.
What’s worse, “this cruel video has won the applause of Rihanna, garnering over 5 million hits,” Donohue reports, a reality that “proves that he is not alone in his sickness.”
He adds: “If this isn’t bad enough, Lucas directs all his anger at God. He blames God for the murder of these troubled celebrities, and is outraged that the Almighty would allow for the premature deaths of Michael Jackson and Trayvon Martin. That’s right, God is responsible, not those who self-destructed.”
The League is calling upon the faithful to register their complaints with Lucas’ Contact Lucas’ general manager by emailing: djoshi@joynerlucas.com
