Disney Plus is planning to sink to new lows as it prepares to release a new series, Pauline, which follows the exploits of a teenage girl who falls in love with Satan.
According to Deadline, Disney is preparing to launch the German original about a teen who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with a boy named Lukas.
“With school stress, the climate crisis and the downfall of society weighing heavily on her mind, something she doesn’t need at all right now is catching feelings, especially not for her one-night stand Lukas, who, as it turns out, is the devil himself,” Deadline reports.
The series was written by Sebastian Colley and the executive producers are Philipp Käßbohrer and Matthias Murmann, of the 2019 Netflix original, How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast).
“For a long time, the series has been and still remains a project very close to our hearts,” said Käßbohrer and Murmann. “We’re thrilled that Disney+ loves this coming-of-age story as much as we do and that we’ve now been able to begin filming with such an amazing cast and crew.”
The show starts up-and-coming young actors such as Sira-Anna Faal as Pauline and Ludger Bökelmann as Lukas.
Although the series will be a German Disney+ Original Series, it may not be available on U.S. Disney due to the controversy surrounding the series, but could be carried on Hulu instead. Either way, it’s destined to come to America unless the public puts a stop to it.
Ted Baehr, Chairman and Founder of MovieGuide, is leading the charge to prevent the release of this series in the U.S.
“Let me be clear – Pauline is not just another piece of entertainment,” Baehr writes. “It’s not just about a teen who is impregnated by Satan, but the series follows this satanic relationship which devolves into a sordid romance between the teenager and the devil.”
In other words, it portrays Satan as a romantic partner.
“By normalizing and promoting such a relationship, Pauline sends a dangerous message to young viewers that associating with demons, Satan, and evil is acceptable and even sexy or desirable,” he writes. “I’m certain that if released, this show will have a horrible cognitive and emotional effect on our youth.”
Thus far, tens of thousands of people have signed a petition to stop the release of Pauline. Click here to add your name to the list!
