Evil Averted: A New Way Forward for the Pro Life Movement

Now that the pro-abortion Biden-Harris Administration has been tossed out of office by former President Donald J. Trump, pro-life leaders across the country are getting to work on unraveling the damage done by the current administration and creating a roadmap to a brighter future for America’s unborn.

A memorandum shared exclusively with Fox News Digital by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA), one of the country’s leading pro-life groups, outlines the group’s priorities moving forward. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA, said their goal during the first 100 days of Trump’s presidency is the “cleansing” of all tax funding of abortion. This includes the ending of all funding through grants to groups such as Planned Parenthood given through the Department of Health and Human Services and other government agencies. SBA is also calling for the reinstatement of the “Mexico City Policy” that prohibits the government from funding and promoting abortion internationally.

Even though President Trump has said he does not support a national abortion ban, the SBA and other pro-life groups are not taking such a ban off the table. However, they do realize that the American public, after 50 years of unfettered access to abortion under Roe v. Wade are not ready to protect all unborn life. Trump’s landslide victory made it clear that Americans did not want Harris’ radical abortion plans but want at least some restrictions on the procedure. Therefore, the SBA’s goal is to establish a “minimum standard” of protection for the unborn.

As for their strategy going forward, “to go on offense and truly defeat the abortion industry in the long term, we must strengthen the pro-life, pro-woman, pro-family resolve of the Republican Party, centered on the unalienable right to life for the unborn child that exists under the 14th Amendment.”

Kristen Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America (SFLA), also wrote about their plans moving forward. Entitled, “Make America Pro-Life Again,” they are prioritizing four main goals to reach in the coming Trump term:

1. Release all of the pro-life prayer warriors who are sitting in federal prisons because they prayed in front of an abortion facility.

2. Appoint pro-life leaders, not abortion lobbyists, to key administrative positions.

3. Truly end federal involvement with abortion (since that’s his view) and tell Planned Parenthood to go fund themselves.

4. Make America Healthy Again by ending Chemical Abortion Pill pollution in our drinking water (and in the process save hundreds of thousands of babies and mothers from abortion).

Although Hawkins does not agree with President Trump on every aspect of the abortion issue, the future looks much brighter for the unborn as a result of last week’s landslide election. She cited the defeat of late-term abortion ballot referendums in Florida, South Dakota, and Nebraska, as well as the election of three pro-life Republicans to the U.S. Senate which will be critical for pro-life judicial and administrative appointments. In Oklahoma, voters ousted three liberal Supreme Court Justices who struck down pro-life laws in the past. She cited several other state house wins in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona where the abortion battles of the future will be fought.

Carol Tobias, President of the National Right to Life also has a positive outlook for the future of the pro-life movement.

As she wrote the day after the election, “So, this morning, when a co-worker asked some of us, ‘So, how is everybody doing?’ I replied, ‘I am thanking God for holding back the evil. I feel like the country got a second chance!’”

She went on to say that even though Donald Trump made it clear he did not support a national law on abortion, “we have every reason to expect that the effective pro-life policies implemented during his first term will be reinstated. Should Supreme Court vacancies occur, we are confident they would be filled with the same Justices who found Roe a constitutional abomination.”

In addition, she cited other benefits of Trump as the 47th President:

“What we won’t have is an executive branch trying to turn VA hospitals and regular hospital emergency rooms into abortion facilities.

“What we won’t have is an executive branch coercing developing nations into changing their laws in order to receive international aid.

“What we won’t have is an administration trying to shut down pregnancy resource centers.

She added: “We don’t know what the future holds, of course. But we do know a Trump-Vance administration will put the brakes on rabid government advocacy of abortion on demand.”
