The task to which we are set

February 14

“Love is never something that is ready-made, something merely ‘given’ to man and woman; it is always at the same time a ‘task’ which they are set. Love should be seen as something which in a sense never ‘is’ but is always only ‘becoming,’ and what it becomes depends upon the contribution of both persons and the depth of their commitment.”

-Pope St. John Paul II

Today’s Reflection:

Love is not static but an ongoing journey that requires effort, commitment, and grace. True love must be nurtured and built over time. This means choosing love daily, especially in moments of struggle, by offering patience, sacrifice, and understanding. When we see love as a task rather than just a feeling, we recognize that its beauty and strength come from our willingness to cultivate it together.

Make a commitment today to actively work to strengthen the love to which your vocation calls you.
