The Holy Spirit will come upon you

May 19
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy,
the Son of God.”
-Luke 1:35
Today’s Reflection:
God desires to fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit, just as He did Our Blessed Mother, Mary. He desires for us to bring Jesus Christ into the world, just as Mary did. What obstacles or fears are keeping you from giving your
full “yes” to God?

Be of good cheer

 June 30

“Be of good cheer, only work, only strive cheerfully; for nothing is lost. Every prayer of yours, every psalm you sing is recorded. Every alms, every fast is recorded.”

-St. Cyril of Jerusalem

Today’s Reflection:

Praise be to God! He has heard every prayer I have prayed, every song I have sung, every alm I have given, every fast I have observed! This gladdens my heart and brings good cheer to all that I do!

Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, Apostles

June 29

Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul, Apostles

“Both apostles share the same feast day, for these two were one; and even though they suffered on different days, they were as one. Peter went first,
and Paul followed. And so we celebrate this day made holy for us
by the apostle’s blood.”

-St. Augustine

Today’s Reflection:

“God our Father, today you give us the joy of celebrating the feast of the apostles Peter and Paul. Through them your Church received the faith. Keep us true to their teaching. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.” -From Morning Prayer

Where there is order

June 28

Feast of St. Irenaeus, Bishop and Martyr (130 – 200)

“Where there is order, there is also harmony, where there is harmony, there is also correct timing; where there is correct timing, there is also advantage.”

-St. Irenaeus

Today’s Reflection:

According to this quote, what is the relationship between order and correct advantage? How does this apply to the practical situations of everyday life and my spiritual life as well?

Mother of God

June 27

Feast of St. Cyril of Alexandria , Bishop (D. 444)

“That anyone could doubt the right of the holy Virgin to be called the Mother of God fills me with astonishment. Surely she must be the Mother of God if our Lord Jesus Christ is God, and she gave birth to him! Our Lord’s disciples may not have used those exact words, but they delivered to us the belief those words enshrine, and this has also been taught us by the holy fathers.”

– St. Cyril of Alexandria

Today’s Reflection:

Consider the logic of St. Cyril of Alexandria regarding Mary’s title of Mother of God. How does this increase my ability to communicate this truth to those who may object to this title?
