Supernatural training

August 6
“It was Mary who presided over the training of Christ. She wishes to take care of your supernatural training, too, by forming you to
the likeness of her first-born Son.”
-Emil Neubert, SM, STD
Today’s Reflection:
Ponder Mary’s deep understanding of her Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ. Ask her to teach you to think like Christ, to feel like Christ, to will like Christ, in short,
to be another Christ.

For militants

August 5

“True, a certain form of devotion to Mary is for children. But there is another,
at least every bit as real, which is for adults, and in particular for militants.”

-Emil Neubert, SM, STD

Today’s Reflection:

In what, do you think this “adult,” “militant” devotion to Mary consists? Are you open to its discovery? Or does this thought intimidate you? Why?

Christ, your Leader

August 4
“If Christ is your Leader and your Model, you ought to think as He does.”
-Emil Neubert, SM, STD
Today’s Reflection:
Do you have Christ-like thoughts when it comes to poverty? To suffering? To His command to take up your cross and follow Him? Ponder these questions and take them into your next time of examination or confession.

Be courageous

August 3
“Your task may appear desperately difficult. Your enemies are more numerous than you; they have at their command inexhaustible resources; they are organized with a cleverness that one is almost tempted to call satanic.”
-Emil Neubert, SM, STD
Today’s Reflection:
When you think of those who are opposed to the Church and her teaching today, how does this quote strike you? What may Our Lord be calling YOU to do? Be courageous.

Acts of devotion

August 2
“Devotion to Mary is much like the love of a child for its mother, since after all, every devotion to Mary is love for our heavenly mother.
-Emil Neubert, SM, STD
Today’s Reflection:
Do you think of Marian devotion as an act of love for your heavenly mother? As you pray your rosary, Hail Mary or put on your scapular today, think of how much Our Blessed Mother loves you and share with her your love and devotion.

I will put enmity between you and the woman

August 1
“I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers. They will strike at your head, while you strike at their heel.”
-Genesis 3:15
Today’s Reflection:
Who was the woman who had enmity with the ancient serpent? What does this mean to you?

Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church

June 10
Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church
“In a wholly singular way she [Mary] cooperated by her obedience, faith, hope, and burning charity in the work of the Savior in restoring supernatural life to souls. For this reason she is mother to us in the order of grace.”
-Vatican Council II, Lumen Gentium
Today’s Reflection:
Today we ponder and celebrate Mary’s special role as mother of the Church. How does her example inspire you to God’s invitation to carry Christ in the womb of your heart?

All suffer together

January 27
“If one member suffers, all suffer together.”
-1 Corinthians 12:26
Today’s Reflection:
In the Mystical Body, we are one in Christ Jesus. Even when it is not consciously experienced, suffering — the common denominator of the human condition — unites us with an unbreakable bond. But suffering itself begs us to ask questions. Why do we suffer? Why does God permit suffering to exist? What is suffering’s purpose? Ponder them during your time of prayer today.

In her heart

January 23

“[She] kept all these things in her heart.”

-Luke 2:51

Today’s Reflection:

Prayer is the answer. Prayer is what the Blessed Virgin Mary did when she faced the contradictions of her life as Mother of the Messiah. It was in her heart that Our Lady found the grace and consolation she needed. In our barren times, how do we need to pray more, not less?

Dearest Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!

Obtain that every human being of every race and culture may encounter and accept Jesus, who came down to earth in the mystery of Christmas to give ‘His’ peace to us.

O Mary, Queen of Peace, give us Christ, the world’s true Peace!”
– St. John Paul II
