Fire upon the earth

June 28
“‘I came to cast fire upon the earth; and would that it were already kindled.’ (Luke 12:29) We have approached the fire of the love of God. Let us allow that fire to burn in our lives. Let us feed the desire to spread that divine fire throughout the world, making it known to all the people around us. They too can experience the peace of Christ and find happiness there. A Christian who lives united to Christ’s heart can have no goals but these: peace in society, peace in the Church, peace in his soul, the peace of God which will reach its climax when his kingdom comes.”
– St. Josemaria Escriva

The virgin shall be with child

May 28
“Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.”
-Isaiah 7:14
Today’s Reflection:
Mary is the Ark of the New Covenant, Jesus. She is also mother of the Church. This makes her your mother. How can you more fully embrace her maternal care for you and all of those you love? How can you imitate her in your own spiritual maternity to those that God has entrusted to you?

Be filled with the Spirit

May 23
Solemnity of Pentecost
“Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [n]God, even the Father…”
-Ephesians 5:18-20
Today’s Reflection:
On this great and holy day, may we be filled with EVERY SPIRITUAL BLESSING IN THE HEAVENS! How can we make each day of our lives a symphony of prayer, a melody of love which rises to the throne of God in praise and gratitude for His generous gift of the Holy Spirit?

The Holy Spirit will come upon you

May 19
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy,
the Son of God.”
-Luke 1:35
Today’s Reflection:
God desires to fill us with the power of the Holy Spirit, just as He did Our Blessed Mother, Mary. He desires for us to bring Jesus Christ into the world, just as Mary did. What obstacles or fears are keeping you from giving your
full “yes” to God?

My soul magnifies the Lord

May 7
“My soul magnifies the Lord,
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden.
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed;
for he who is mighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
And his mercy is on those who fear him
from generation to generation.
He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,
he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
and exalted those of low degree;
he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.
He has helped his servant Israel,
in remembrance of his mercy,
as he spoke to our fathers,
to Abraham and to his posterity for ever.”
  • Luke 1:46-55 (RSV)
Today’s Reflection:
God has chosen for us to be the “perfect” women of our day and age. If we desire to fulfill the plan of God for us then we too must seek after holiness. Our hearts must be set upon the higher things–upon holiness and truth, grace and obedience, commitment and love. Thus, full of grace, we will radiate the splendor of the Bridegroom’s love to His people.
Today, how is God calling me to seek after holiness? Where do I struggle with setting my heart upon the higher things?

Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord

May 6
Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”
-Luke 1:38
Today’s Reflection:
In a certain sense, God extends the call He issued to Mary to each of us. Will you bring my Son into the world? Will you carry Him in the womb of your heart as Mary carried Him in the womb of her body? Will you birth Him into the lives of others, that all might come to experience the grace of redemption and eternal life? Will you be a spiritual mother to all of those I place in your care?
