Iowa Catholics Mobilize to Protect Marriage

Thanks to the efforts of the Iowa Catholic Conference, voters in Iowa will be able to voice their opinion about marriage on a November 2 ballot after being shut out of the decision by the state’s Supreme Court that legalized same-sex marriage last year.

Massachusetts Judge Declares DOMA Unconstitutional

A federal district court judge in Boston ruled yesterday that the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman is unconstitutional because it violates the rights of same-sex couples and interferes with state’s rights to set their own marriage law.

President Orders Hospitals to Extend Rights to Same-Sex Couples

President Barack Obama issued a memorandum yesterday ordering all U.S. medical facilities that receive Medicaid or Medicare to extend hospitals visitation rights to same-sex couples, a move considered to be the most significant taken thus far in his presidency to expand homosexual rights in America.
