The newly elected vice president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) says that if the courts strike down Proposition 8, a voter-approved constitutional amendment prohibiting same-sex marriage in California, the cultural impact on marriage will be “akin to Roe v. Wade.”

In a surprising upset, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) elected Archbishop Timothy Dolan over sitting vice president Bishop Gerald Kicanas as the new president of the conference.
US Bishops Decry Court Decision on Same-Sex Marriage
