Humanae Vitae and the #MeToo Movement

If Pope Paul VI was alive today, he would have every right to look at the #MeToo movement and say, “I told you so.” And he did – 50 years ago when he issued papal encyclical, Humanae Vitae, which put forth the Church’s teaching on love and marriage and on the use of artificial birth control. Since that time it has been called everything from puritanical to completely out-of-touch. But one thing it’s rarely been called is exactly what it turned out to be – the truth.

Bishop Addresses Perils of Pornography

 In 2006, Bishop Paul Loverde published an eye-opening pastoral letter on the plague of pornography entitled Bought with a Price.  This letter brought to light a serious epidemic that has affected millions of Catholics, yet few were willing to talk about.  Thanks to Bishop Loverde, and many other Catholics who aren’t afraid to speak out about pornography, more people are willing to address this issue.  We have the research that shows how destructive pornography is.  We have effective ways to protect individuals and families.  We have effective treatment programs for those who struggle with pornography addiction.  Yet, even with all this progress, the pornography epidemic has only gotten worse.  Because of this, Bishop Loverde has decided to update and republish Bought with a Price.  He has chosen to release the document on March 19th, the Feast of St. Joseph, Protector of the Family. Porn Addiction in Schoolchildren May Soon Reach Epidemic Levels

A new study by the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation has found that seven out of ten teenagers have viewed pornography on the Internet, adding to growing concern among experts that porn addiction is on the verge of becoming a national epidemic among American youth.
