No one begins a marriage anticipating it to end in divorce. But, unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, some preventable and others not, many marriages do break apart. And the effects are devastating emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually. How does one cope with such deep sorrow and sadness? Divorced Catholics are a population woefully underserved and misunderstood within our parishes. These realities only intensify the already painful emotions and deep interior suffering the divorced person is experiencing. How can they come to healing and hope, and can our Catholic faith itself become the means to take them there?
