Some of my most treasured childhood memories from elementary school are the moments when the religious sisters would share with us about the lives of the saints. I can remember desiring to give my life for Jesus like St. Isaac Jogues, wanting to shower roses down from heaven like Saint Therese of Lisieux, or having the courage to be stabbed to death for the sake of purity like St. Maria Goretti. I prayed that maybe the Blessed Mother would one day appear to me like she did for St. Bernadette and the three children of Fatima and my heart yearned to know her better. Indeed, my little girl’s heart filled with desire and my imagination ran wild with the thoughts of it all. Maybe you’ve had a similar experience or have longed to know the saints better in your more mature years. Our guest today knows this love of the saints and seeks to give children that first taste for sainthood through a book she has written for wee ones. She’ll also tell us how she continues to inspire others through stories of the saints on-line. Caroline Perkins is with us and we’re going to talk about getting to know the saints.
