WGR11899 - Evangelization for Such a Time as This, Pt. 1
12/5/2022
(Program WGR11899) Guests: Fr. John Riccardo
In his encyclical letter, “On Evangelization in the Modern World,” Pope Paul the Sixth, now saint, spoke of the necessity to lead contemporary man to conversion of heart through the dynamic of evangelization. “The Church exists to evangelize,” he reminded, and his successor Pope St. John Paul the Second agreed, calling for a “new evangelization,” one that doesn’t depart from the revealed truth of Sacred Scripture and the teachings of the Church, but rather one that is “new in its ardor, methods and expression.” Since then, both Pope Benedict the Sixteenth and Pope Francis have spoken of the urgent need to bring the Gospel to the world with love and zeal. Our guest today has heeded this clarion call, and in 2019 was given permission by his Archbishop to leave his parish assignment and embark upon a missionary activity to do just that. Father John Riccardo is our guest.
