“We desire to be able to welcome Jesus at Christmas-time, not in a cold manger of our heart, but in a heart full of love and humility, a heart so pure, so immaculate, so warm with love for one another.”
-St. Teresa of Calcutta
Today's Reflection:
Never be afraid to pray for the virtue of humility! God will not humiliate you, He delights to gently give you a humble heart and fill it with Himself.
In order to welcome Christ with a pure and humble heart, pray this excerpt from the Litany of Humility, written by Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val y Zulueta
O Jesus, meek and humble of heart,
Hear me
That others may be loved more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be esteemed more than I,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That, in the opinion of the world, others may increase and I may decrease,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be chosen and I set aside,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be praised and I go unnoticed,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may be preferred to me in everything,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
That others may become holier than I, provided that I may become as holy as I should,
Jesus, grant me the grace to desire it.
Amen
