“It seems to me that our Lord’s earnest desire to have His Sacred Heart honored in a special way is directed toward renewing the effects of redemption in our souls. For the Sacred Heart is an inexhaustible fountain and its sole desire is to pour itself out into the hearts of the humble so as to free them and prepare them to lead lives according to his good pleasure.”
~ St. Margaret Mary Alacoque
For Reflection:
In what one way can I honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus more? (Some options may include enthroning your home to the Sacred Heart, spending time before the Eucharistic Presence on a regular basis, participating in First Friday devotions.)

THE POWER OF PRAYER 48.1 Trusting and persevering prayer. St Alphonsus Liguori has taught: The Lord wants to grant us His graces, but He also wants us to ask for them. One day He said to His disciples: 'Hitherto you have asked nothing in my name; ask and you will receive, that your joy may be full (John 16:24). It was as if he were saying: Do not complain to me if you are not filled with blessings. Complain to yourselves for not having sought from me what you need. From now on, ask of me and your prayers will be answered. St Bernard has commented that many people complain like this, saying that the Lord has forsaken them. But Jesus himself laments that these same complainers have not really asked for his assistance.
