Rest is not idleness

February 23

“Rest is not idleness; indeed, restlessness is the torment of idle people. It is not relaxation. Relaxation should never be necessary, because the nervous tension which makes it so should never be present. Rest, far from being relaxation, is a culmination, a fullness of gathered peace, like the fullness and stillness of waters gathered to a flood tide.”

-Caryll Houselander

Today’s Reflection:

What does true rest look like in your life right now? Where might restlessness, overwork, or distraction be keeping you from the peace God desires for you? This Lent, how can you practice intentional rest as an act of trust and surrender, allowing your soul to be still enough to treasure Christ dwelling in you?
