Best Buy Employees Show True Christmas Spirit

best buy valley streamEmployees at a Best Buy in Valley Stream, New York, who chipped in to buy an unexpected gift for an underprivileged boy, proved that the true spirit of Christmas is alive and well in 2016 America.

ABC7 is reporting on the touching story of a young boy who came to the Valley Stream Best Buy every day to play on the store’s WiiU. The store’s employees noticed the boy and decided to chip in and buy the youngster a console of his own.

Rahiem Storr, a manager at Best Buy, posted a YouTube video of the group of employees presenting the $300 game to the boy.

“On behalf of all of us here at Best Buy, we got you a WiiU so you don't have to come here every day to play,” an employee told the boy.

The boy looked stunned and said nothing at first, which prompted the worker to show him the receipt and reassure him that he could take the console and walk out of the store with it.

“This is something we did for you. Everyone here that you see, we all got together and chipped in so you could have it,” the employee told the boy.

When the boy continued to hesitate, the employee insisted. “'No for real, this is for you,” and called it an “early Christmas present.”

The boy eventually accepted the gift and workers gave him a ride home so that he wouldn’t have to walk on the streets with the new game.

When some viewers of the video expressed concern that they boy might have been making daily visits to the Best Buy to avoid going home, Storr reassured them that he has two loving parents who simply can’t afford to buy him the game.

"The employees in this store saw an opportunity to make a child smile and did just that," Storr wrote about the episode.

Not surprisingly, the boy was back the following night – with his parents – simply because he likes hanging out at the Best Buy!
