After a 26-year-old convenience store clerk was shot to death in broad daylight in Gary, Indiana, customers continued to shop as if nothing had happened.
According to a report by CBS, the clerk, Gurjeet Singh, was shot in the neck by a man during an attempted robbery.
"It was senseless,” said Gary Police Commander, Anthony Titus. “And really all homicides are senseless but what we gather from this, there was very little resistance. It didn't have to end the way it did."
Titus was even more upset when a video of the scene revealed several bystanders standing near the front of the store while others continued to shop after the crime occurred. Only one person was thoughtful enough to call 9-1-1 for help.
"There is a man laying there. Nobody thinks to dial 9-1-1 or check to see if he's okay or anything," Titus said.
Police are still searching for the four men who participated in the robbery in order to give Singh’s family some closure.
