Faith Rewarded: Grieving Parents Now Expecting Twins

Hadley and Gentry Eddings relied on pure faith to get them through the dark night they experienced two years ago when their only children were killed in a tragic car accident – but recently learned that God has chosen to reward their trust by blessing them with a set of twins.

The Daily Mail is reporting on the Eddings’ story of tragedy and blessing which began in May of 2015 when the family’s car was rear-ended near Wilmington, North Carolina. Their two year-old son Dobbs was killed in the accident.

Hadley, who was eight months pregnant at the time, was rushed into surgery where doctors delivered her child, a boy named Reed. Tragically, he died two days later.

“I hate that this happened. I don't like it at all,” Hadley said after the accident. “But I can trust God even when it's really hard. I just trust it. I have to, I have to.”

She later remarked: “God has our boys in a place of peace, so I am in a place of peace. God has a plan. The situation is a frustrating one. We don't want to be here. We don't like it. This is not a fun situation. We're mad at the loss. But we know God is good and has a plan and we believe that.”

This couple not only “talks the talk”, however. They drew national attention after they publicly forgave the driver of the car, 28 year-old Matthew Deans, who was later sentenced to one to three years in prison after pleading guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

“Well, just think about it from his perspective,” Hadley said. “Can you just imagine being the person who ran into the back of three cars and killed two sons? Can you just imagine the burden your heart would feel? I would be devastated.”

But the couple may soon be arranging a new nursery in the house after learning that Hadley is pregnant – with twins!

'Y'all have held us up in prayer and we are so grateful! Now we ask you to add two more Eddings to your prayers! We are expecting twins this summer!” Hadley announced on the couple’s Facebook page.

She joyfully posted an ultrasound of the babies and is asking everyone to continue to pray for the family.

The announcement resulted in thousands of likes and a flood of comments praising God for the great mercy He has shown to this faithful couple.

The Eddings have indeed experienced the same evil that robbed Job of all that he cherished in life – and like him they kept the faith and are now learning the same lesson as that ancient man of suffering: “For he wounds, but he binds up, he strikes, but his hands give healing.”
