ARANews.com is reporting on the murder of Muaz Hassan, 7, which took place in the Syrian city of Raqqa. The boy was playing ball with friends on May 2 when an ISIS militant walked past and heard the boy swearing.
Hassan was promptly dragged in front of an ISIS Sharia court where he was convicted of blasphemy and insulting the caliphate, crimes that are punishable by death.
An eyewitness said that a member of the Islamic Court announced before the execution that “Islamic State’s police arrested Muaz Hassan earlier this week in the city of Raqqa, after they heard him ‘cursing divinity’, while playing in the street with his friends. The act was considered an insult to the Caliphate, regardless of the age of the boy.”
The execution took place in Naeem Square. Members of the Hisba police force shot the child to death in front of hundreds of people, including the child’s parents, who reportedly collapsed after the execution of their son, eyewitnesses said.
ISIS has publicly executed hundreds of civilians and activists in their years-long reign of terror but observers believe this is the first time that a child has been executed for blasphemy.
The act has caused global outrage with human rights groups and Muslims alike saying that executing a child is in blatant violation of Islamic law.
We can only continue to implore God to might bring about a swift end to the reign of terror of this godless group and pray for the soul of this innocent little boy.
