The Centers for Disease Control is reporting that more than nine out of 10 new HIV cases in the United States among young men and boys between the ages of 13 to 24 is occurring in those identifying as homosexuals and bisexuals.

According to the report, which tracked the incidence of HIV infection in the US between 2005 and 2014, gay and bisexual men who have sex with other men make up an estimated two percent of the population and yet account for 55 percent of people living with HIV in the United States.

“Gay and bisexual men accounted for 83% (29,418) of the estimated new HIV diagnoses among all males aged 13 and older and 67% of the total estimated new diagnoses in the United States,” the report found.

One of the most shocking statistics cited was the incidence of HIV diagnoses among youth aged 13 to 24 which accounted for an estimated 92 percent of new HIV diagnoses among all men in their age group and 27 percent of new diagnoses among all gay and bisexual men.

Even though the overall rate of HIV diagnoses decreased by 19 percent from 2005 to 2014, the rate actually increased by six percent among all gay and bisexual men.

The report found that the men in this demographic who engage in typical homosexual activity without using condoms, or whose partners are not taking medication to either prevent HIV or treat it in those who tested HIV-positive,are at grave risk of contracting the disease.

If current infection rates continue, one in six gay and bisexual men will be diagnosed with HIV in their lifetime.

Dr. Michelle Cretella, president of the American College of Pediatricians, called these statistics sobering and said they need to be told to the nation’s sex ed industry where the risks of homosexual behavior are too often down-played out of political correctness.

"The CDC reports that men who have sex with men (MSM) make up only 2 percent of the population, but gay and bisexual men aged 13 to 24 account for an estimated 92 percent of new HIV diagnoses among all men in their age group. This is shocking. An HIV epidemic is raging among young MSM and no one knows about it — least of all those most at risk: LGBT youth,” Dr. Cretella told LifeSiteNews.

“These statistics are proof that ‘comprehensive sex education’ aimed at promoting condoms among youth has not worked,” she said. “Even when used perfectly correctly, condoms and lubricants cannot make anal sex — an inherently traumatic act — safe. Our children deserve to know the truth. Their health and very lives depend upon it."
